Know where the demand is before you spend against it.

Category and competitor research built for decisions, not for slide decks. Where demand actually sits, what competitors really claim and charge, and where you have room to win.

  • Built from search and market data
  • Answers a decision, not a brief
  • Delivered as a recommendation

What Category & Market Intelligence covers

This is research aimed at a specific commercial decision: which market to enter, which segment to focus on, what to charge, whether a category is worth building for, or why a competitor is outperforming you. It is scoped from the decision backwards rather than assembled as a general market overview.

The distinction matters because most market research gets read once and shelved. It answers questions nobody was going to act on, at a level of generality that supports any conclusion. We would rather answer one question you are actually facing with enough specificity to act on it.

Our advantage here is that we run media in these categories. We see live search demand, real click prices, actual competitor spend behaviour and genuine conversion data, which is a different and usually more honest input than survey panels and industry reports.

Why this pays for itself before the media does

The most expensive marketing mistakes are strategic rather than tactical. Launching into a market with insufficient demand, pricing well below your category's tolerance, chasing a segment that cannot afford you, expanding to a city where you have no realistic advantage — none of these are fixable with better campaign management, and all of them are visible in research beforehand.

Getting this wrong costs a year and a budget. Getting it right means every subsequent rupee of media spend is pointed somewhere it can work.

Search data reveals demand honestly

What people actually type, in what volume, with what commercial intent, in which locations. It is one of the few genuinely unbiased demand signals available.

Competitor claims tell you where the gap is

When every competitor in a category makes the same claim, that claim is worthless to all of them — and the unoccupied ground becomes visible.

Pricing power is discoverable, not guessable

Where competitors sit, what buyers compare, and what they will pay a premium for can be established rather than assumed. Most businesses underprice from caution.

Expansion decisions deserve evidence

Whether a new city or country has enough demand at economics that work is a researchable question, and considerably cheaper to answer than to test with a live budget.

Why Ads Ninza for Category & Market Intelligence

Senior people on your account

Strategy and execution sit with consultants who have 12+ years across IT and marketing. No junior handover after the pitch.

Tracking before spend

Conversion API and server-side events go in first. Platforms can only optimise toward signals they can actually see.

Ads and pages from one team

We build the page the traffic lands on. Campaign and conversion rate are tuned together instead of argued over.

Reporting a CFO can read

ROAS, CAC, contribution margin and pipeline. Impressions and engagement rate stay in the appendix.

We are a performance marketing team based in Kolkata, India, working with clients across India, the USA, the UK, the UAE and Canada. We own the whole path from click to conversion — campaigns, the pages traffic lands on, the tracking that measures it and the search work that reduces your dependence on paid over time — so nobody can hand the conversion problem to a second vendor. Your ad accounts, pixels, analytics properties and creative stay in your name.

How we do it

Scoped from the decision, built from data we can verify, delivered as a recommendation we will defend.

  1. Define the decision precisely

What will you do differently depending on what we find? If there is no answer, the research is not worth commissioning. This conversation frequently sharpens the question itself, which is part of the value.

  2. Demand mapping

Search volume and intent distribution across your categories and locations, seasonality, and where demand is growing or contracting. This tells you the size and shape of the addressable opportunity rather than the total market.

  3. Competitive intelligence

Who competes, on what claims, at what prices, with what apparent spend, on which channels, with what strengths in search and social. Including where they are absent, which is often the more useful finding.

  4. Buyer and segment analysis

Who buys, what they compare, what triggers purchase, what they will pay more for, and which segments are worth pursuing versus politely declining.

  5. Economic modelling

Achievable acquisition cost per segment and location, against your margin, to establish where the opportunity is genuinely profitable rather than merely large.

  6. A recommendation, not a data dump

What we would do and why, with the reasoning visible so you can disagree with it intelligently. Plus what we are uncertain about, stated plainly rather than buried.

On guarantees: we do not promise a specific number before seeing your data, because anyone who does is guessing. What we guarantee is the method above, run in that order, with reporting honest enough that you can see for yourself whether it is working.

Category & Market Intelligence — FAQs

How is this different from a market research report we could buy?

Purchased reports describe a market in general terms for a general audience. This answers your specific decision using live search demand, real auction data and current competitor behaviour in your actual categories and locations. It is narrower and considerably more actionable.

What kind of decisions is this useful for?

Market or city entry, segment prioritisation, pricing strategy, whether a category is worth building for, why a competitor is outperforming you, and where to allocate budget across locations. Anything where the wrong choice costs a year.

How long does it take?

Three to five weeks for a focused question, longer for multi-market or multi-category scope. We would rather scope tightly and deliver something you act on than survey everything and deliver something you file.

Can you research international markets?

Yes. We regularly research the US, UK, UAE and Canadian markets alongside Indian ones, including state and city-level demand differences. Search and auction data is available at that granularity, which makes location-level comparison genuinely reliable.

Do you do primary research like customer surveys?

We do customer and prospect interviews, which are more useful than surveys for understanding purchase reasoning. Large-scale quantitative surveys are outside what we do, and if your question genuinely needs one we will tell you rather than approximate it.

How reliable is search volume data?

Directionally reliable and imprecise in absolute terms. Platform-reported volumes are estimates and can be inconsistent. We use them for relative comparison — which category is larger, which location has more demand, which is growing — rather than treating them as exact counts, and we say so in the reporting.

Can you tell us what competitors are spending?

Approximately. Auction insights, ad transparency tools and impression share data let us estimate relative spend and aggression, and we can see what they are bidding on and how consistently. We cannot see their actual budgets, and we will not present an estimate as a fact.

What if the research says the opportunity is not there?

Then we say so, and that is a successful outcome. Discovering that a market lacks demand before you commit a year and a budget is what the research is for. We have advised clients against expansions they were keen on, and it was the right call.

Does this include our own performance data?

Yes, where you have it. Your conversion data, close rates and customer economics are among the most valuable inputs available, because they tell us what actually converts in your category rather than what should in theory.

How do we start?

A conversation about the decision you are facing. If research is the right tool we will scope it to that question. If the answer is already available in your own data, we will tell you that instead of selling you a study.
